Virginia Memorial – Gettysburg

Monument which includes a statue of a man on a horse and 7 statues at the base depicting the different types of men who joined the Confederate army

This was the Virginia Memorial statue located on Seminary Ridge, where the Confederate Army marched toward the Union Army in Pickett’s Charge. I liked how this monument showed how most of the men who fought in the Civil War, both sides, were not professional soldiers but came from a variety of professional backgrounds.
